Memories of his grandfather’s vineyard and cellars in Europe led Beckett’s Flat owner and winemaker Bill Ilic to an early interest in wine.
Back in the 1990’s Bill and his wife Noni scoured the Margaret River region for a suitable property to produce premium wine. Their single vineyard estate located right in the heart of the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia is the quintessence of ‘boutique’.
Hands-on in all aspects of the business, from planting and tending the vines to producing their premium wines, you will also find them behind the counter, hand-selling the wines from the cellar door. This is not just a business – but a passion, and this is reflected in the outstanding wines produced. All wines are now bottled under the Five Stones label, introduced in 2007.
Bill’s other passion is photography and the cellar door doubles as a gallery displaying both colour and black and white photographs, together with some old cameras and photographic equipment. See his photos on ‘Our other Passion’ page of our website.
The cellar door is usually only open by appointment. There is a service fee of $10 per head, with a minimum per visit of $20, refundable with a minimum purchase of $100. 5 wines are offered for tasting, in line with Responsible Service of Alcohol guidelines. Visitors are likely to be greeted by ‘Raff’ the Sable German Shepherd who thinks everyone has come to throw a stick for him. You will receive friendly service, discounts on 3-packs and special case buys. Wines are very reasonably priced ranging from $18.50 to $35, with case specials from as little as $10 a bottle.
The Five Stones label is certified vegan-friendly, and Kosher. For further details please visit www.kosherwine.com.au
